Submissions for Edition 18 (2024-25) are now open! 〰️
Following closely on the heels of our last publication, Edition 18: Coming of Age is all about the blossoming of something new. It is the recognition that every beginning is the ending of something else. Through our theme, we hope to invite reflection on the maturation of ideas and disciplines, highlighting challenges like bureaucratisation and the loss of alternative perspectives (e.g. ground-breaking research or perhaps new technologies that are able to paint our world in a different light).
On a personal level, the theme encourages creative submissions about self-reflection, academic growth, and psychological development, offering a broad exploration of individual and collective growth, perhaps even transformation. We would be very interested in papers that explore questions like, but not limited to: How have I changed since I started studying? How do I take care of my elders? How can I characterize the time I now live in? Do I have a stable narrative identity?
Do you have a unique perspective on this topic? Does your research explore societal shifts, unprecedented breakthroughs or cultural revolutions?
Sign up here to contribute and check out our submission guidelines here. We are now accepting submissions at our inbox honoursreviewrug@gmail.com, with the deadline set for the 31st of March, 2025. Extensions are possible, but only through request via our email, honoursreviewrug@gmail.com.
We accept: short essays (2500 words), long essays (5000 words), columns (600 words), poems (200 words) and artworks.
About the magazine:
Once (or twice) a year, we print a compilation of high-quality, peer-reviewed articles in the form of the Honours Review magazine. Each edition examines a shared theme or idea from a multidisciplinary lens, and aims to introduce it to the general public. The journal provides Honours students with an opportunity to engage with the academic writing process and get their work published.
So far, the Honours Review is proud to have produced 16 official editions covering a wide range of disciplines, topics and issues, including interviews from Nobel Laureates and groundbreaking research. You can find the latest edition in the Honours tower, or browse them online through our archive.
